Doctors order fewer laboratory tests if they have access to electronic medical records of patients, according to a new study, but the effectiveness may be limited to change of state of the art of data at the moment.
The new study builds on the experience of two hospitals - Brigham and Women's and Massachusetts General Hospital - which form Partners HealthCare, a health care nonprofit in Boston. The results are at odds with another recent study.
