Taking a pulse on the inside of the leg is done at the femoral artery, which runs from the abdomen, past the groin area and into the upper thigh. Femoral pulses are taken after sustaining a thigh injury or wound that requires a bandage. The pulse is taken below the injury or wound to make sure the bandage is not cutting off blood flow to the rest of the body.
